About Us

HESNI MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Healthcare Engineers Society of Northern Illinois (HESNI) is to advance the role of the healthcare facilities services professional. This is done through the development and promotion of educational, networking and professional collaboration opportunities for our members.  

HESNI is the premiere resource for hospitals and their professional affiliates to develop solutions to local, regional & national advocacy issues and to provide professional development, mentoring & networking to our membership. Through our chapter educational programs & events, we offer the following to our members.

Founded originally in 1968 and re-established in April of 2004, HESNI is a local legal affiliate chapter of the American Society of Healthcare Engineers (ASHE). HESNI’s members are professionals & students who are interested in personal and professional development, and engage in one or more of the following healthcare team responsibilities.

  • HESNI Members will serve the healthcare industry, HESNI, and the profession, with fidelity, honesty, and impartiality.
  • Treat other HESNI members with respect, civility, and without discrimination or harassment in all professional relationships.
  • Abstain from behavior that will unjustly cause harm to the reputation of HESNI, its members, and the profession.
  • Continually improve and contribute to the professional knowledge, skills, competencies, and awareness of relevant new developments, through training, education, networking, and work experiences for HESNI members
  • Avoid situations that create actual, potential, or perceived, conflicts between personal and professional interests, and if a potential conflict of interest arises disclose all applicable facts to potentially affected parties.


Violation of this Code of Professional Conduct in circumstances involving HESNI or its members are subject to discipline pursuant to the discretion of the HESNI Board of Directors.
